Summary

Fitz has survived his first hazardous mission as king’s assassin, but is left little more than a cripple。 Battered and bitter, he vows to abandon his oath to King Shrewd, remaining in the distant mountains。 But love and events of terrible urgency draw him back to the court at Buckkeep, and into the deadly intrigues of the royal family。

Renewing their vicious attacks on the coast, the Red-Ship Raiders leave burned-out villages and demented victims in their wake。 The kingdom is also under assault from within, as treachery threatens the throne of the ailing king。 In this time of great danger, the fate of the kingdom may rest in Fitz’s hands—and his role in its salvation may require the ultimate sacrifice。

Damn you Hobb! I’m too enthralled, I can’t stop reading! At least I’m starting the third book now, so I can finally be done even though I’m enjoying myself so much。 This book went even darker and I’m a little broken by it, but I’m still hoping for a happy ending, which is a little laughable。 Anyway, good book, hugely recommend!

Heart-wrenching, still。 Always。

Another very slow burner of a read。 Much like the first in the series it plodded on at an insufferably slow rate of knots for a bit, before speeding up for a tumultuous climax。A good book, but just a bit too slow at the start to warrant more than 4/5 for me

The second book is even better than the first。 The plot thickens in every way: the war intensifies, the intrigues at court grow much darker, the stakes for Fitz get higher as those he loves, and not just himself, are now at risk。 Oh, and we meet Nighteyes 😍This book is probably my favourite from the first trilogy。 Perhaps because, after this, Fitz's life will really and truly never be the same。 And Hobb does an amazing job of showing us all that matters to him in his life in Buckkeep in this boo The second book is even better than the first。 The plot thickens in every way: the war intensifies, the intrigues at court grow much darker, the stakes for Fitz get higher as those he loves, and not just himself, are now at risk。 Oh, and we meet Nighteyes 😍This book is probably my favourite from the first trilogy。 Perhaps because, after this, Fitz's life will really and truly never be the same。 And Hobb does an amazing job of showing us all that matters to him in his life in Buckkeep in this book so that we can understand the stakes。 。。。more

Unbelievably awesome story。 Gripping and full of detail。 I honesty didn’t think it was going to go in the direction that it did。 The characters are well written and Hobb definitely isn’t nice to them。 I love hittin up books over 20 years old and wonder why it took me so long to read them。

It was also hard to put this one down。 At times I felt physically ailed by the tension of the story and the struggle between Fitz and the antagonists。

4。5/5 on the technicality that I thought it was a bit too slow in the middle, but holy crap。。。

Not much better but held out for a strong finish。

Probably the best of this trilogy。。。 somehow? I'm not sure even why I liked this book to be honest, but I did like it。 The previous instalment I found a bit dull until the third act。 I think the issue was that the world setup took a little bit too long and the main character felt a bit too 'chosen one' to me to really enjoy。 However, once you get over that hurdle, this trilogy improves greatly。I am writing this review after having read the third, which while not a let down, did have a bit of 'in Probably the best of this trilogy。。。 somehow? 4。5Just as good as the first book。 It was a little hard to understand Fitz's romantic interests, or to care, but the intrigue in this book was good enough for me to not mind that much。 4。5Just as good as the first book。 It was a little hard to understand Fitz's romantic interests, or to care, but the intrigue in this book was good enough for me to not mind that much。 。。。more

Very much like the first of the series - full of heartbreak, deceit and shocks throughout that made my jaw drop。 Hobb masterfully creates characters that are so easy to hate *cough cough* Regal and ones you root for unconditionally, even when they’re doing something that is perhaps misguided or selfish。I just love this series, what more can I say?

4。5 This is so good, that ending。 I hope book three doesn’t disappoint。

Struggles dreadfully against an evil prince for over 600 pages。 Not much good here。

Robin Hobb va tejiendo la trama de una manera espectacular, pero siento que tarda mucho en "cuajar"。 Robin Hobb va tejiendo la trama de una manera espectacular, pero siento que tarda mucho en "cuajar"。 。。。more

Another solidly entertaining book in the story of Fitz Chivalry。 A bit quicker paced than the first book, we see a lot more palace intrigue in this book。 We also see a lot more of Molly, for better or worse, and a new friend Nighteyes! We really get to see Queen Kettricken shine in this book。 I'm also really liking these illustrated hardcover editions。 On to the concluding book of the trilogy。 Another solidly entertaining book in the story of Fitz Chivalry。 A bit quicker paced than the first book, we see a lot more palace intrigue in this book。 We also see a lot more of Molly, for better or worse, and a new friend Nighteyes! Wonderful A great read and I enjoyed it more than the first book。 A fervent addition to a great series and have enjoyed where the story is going

Beautifully written characters paired with an intriguing world。 The author has a wonderful way of advancing the plot while still making it feel like a very slow paced, long, drawn out story (don't know if it's just me warming up to the writing style)。 There is a constant feeling of dread for the characters that Fitz calls his friends, as we the reader along with Fitz begin to fear that some mishap may fall upon them (courtesy of a certain uncle)。 We see the characters we love try their best but Beautifully written characters paired with an intriguing world。 The author has a wonderful way of advancing the plot while still making it feel like a very slow paced, long, drawn out story (don't know if it's just me warming up to the writing style)。 There is a constant feeling of dread for the characters that Fitz calls his friends, as we the reader along with Fitz begin to fear that some mishap may fall upon them (courtesy of a certain uncle)。 We see the characters we love try their best but is still thwarted at every occasion or left with them feeling that they could've done more。 Defeat makes them desperate and desperation leads them to defeat again, that gut wrenching ending sent me reeling but at the same time gave me hope that vengeance will be coming。。。。soon。Also why didn't I have the sense to read these books earlier。 。。。more

Entertaining, and yet too full of doom and gloom for my liking。 The book is just a steady procession of everything going wrong, and it feeling like Fitz has no real autonomy throughout。 He just goes from being battered by regal to another battering。 It also feels like some selective intelligence goes on。 Sometimes they are smart, and sometimes dumb as rocks。

9。4/10 This book improved everything i liked in AA。 Great character work and prose (imo those are Hobb´s biggest pros)。 Fitz went through some fucked up stuff and i honestly have no idea what will happen in AQ。 AA was more emotional but RA was a lot more bleak at the end, leaving me wanting to know what will happen next。 Only thing missing in this series is more worldbuilding。 I wanna see more of the Six Duchies and explore the lore that is presented through Fitz´s Epigraphs。 "Wolves have no kin 9。4/10 This book improved everything i liked in AA。 Great character work and prose (imo those are Hobb´s biggest pros)。 Fitz went through some fucked up stuff and i honestly have no idea what will happen in AQ。 AA was more emotional but RA was a lot more bleak at the end, leaving me wanting to know what will happen next。 Only thing missing in this series is more worldbuilding。 I wanna see more of the Six Duchies and explore the lore that is presented through Fitz´s Epigraphs。 "Wolves have no kings。" 。。。more

I’m just too sad to say anything。 It’s just so so unfair。 I would literally die for Nighteyes and Fitz tho。 They deserve so much more。 And also Burrich, oh god, Burrich。 Sigh, I can’t, I just wanna cry。

Wanted to write a (super) small review for this one after all。 Another great entry to this series! Loved all the political intrigues here and how Fitz is mixed up with it all even though he doesn't want to be, but there was never really any way that he wouldn't be involved。 I do think that sometimes some stupid decisions were made (mainly by Fitz), but it never felt like his decisions were illogical or out-of-character。 I do hope he learns from his mistakes though。。。。Looking forward to learning Wanted to write a (super) small review for this one after all。 Another great entry to this series! Brilliant second book my imagination kept alive and my thirst for the third book was introduced at the very beginning as I did not want this trilogy to end
